Well, today we left Malcesine and moved from Lago di Garda to Lago Como. Unfortunately, the only thing that didn't change was the weather! When we arrived at the apartment we'd rented in Menaggio, I thought isn't it strange that they have gray curtains on the living room window. Upon closer look, I realized there were no curtains - it was the gray lake, the gray sky and the gray mist hovering in between. Nice!!!
So, here we are on one of the most famous lakes in the world, with some thanks to Mr. Clooney, and it looks like absolutely nothing! Needless to say, the green trees help a bit. There was actually a duck swimming in the pool at the hotel next door - no one else, just a duck!
The drive here wasn't as bad as I thought. The autostrada drivers were close to being sane; we didn't get lost; and, in spite of driving in torrential rain (I am NOT exaggerating), the trip went smoothly and I don't even think I swore at any of the drivers. You'd have to ask Nawal if I am correct about that, however. We are sure hoping the weather gets better as this really is a very lovely and beautiful part of Italy. So far, at least, the jury is out for this trip!
Oh, our last evening in Malcesine was spent back at the lovely restaurant called La Voglia in Val di Sogno. After dinner, they plonk complimentary limoncello on the table. I thought as a contrast to wine I've take photos of, I'd include this one looking from our table across the lake. Now, all we need is some evenings like that on Lake Como - with or without George! Damn! No George. Just heard he and his wife are at the Cannes Film Festival to début his new movie with Julia Roberts called Money Monster.
A lovely end to a dinner....limoncello! Enjoying the blog
